PHIL THE VOID; THE GREAT BRAIN ROBBERY

PHIL THE VOID: THE GREAT BRAIN ROBBERY, written by Phil van Hest, joins Hollywood Fringe at The Andy Dick Black Box Theater i.o. West! (6366 North Hollywood Boulevard, LA 90028) with direction by David Fofi. Saturday, June 19 and 26th @ 10 PM. Tickets are available at www.hollywoodfringe.org or by calling 866.811.4111. The show will extend beyond Hollywood Fringe to the Elephant Studio (1078 N. Lillian Way, Hollywood) on Saturdays at 8 PM running July 10th through August 7th.

PHIL THE VOID: THE GREAT BRAIN ROBBERY is a one-man show that is not quite stand-up, not exactly a comedic monologue but something more closely resembling “Philosophical Comedy”. Van Hest does more than merely point out the ironically amusing and self-defeating contradictions within contemporary complacency. He articulates the unspoken rebellion lurking in his audience’s subconscious on matters of virtual social networking, banking in America and the Code of Hammurabi, to name a few of his targets. He draws from sources both obscure and popular, satisfying a wide range of his audience’s comedic palettes.

PHIL THE VOID: THE GREAT BRAIN ROBBERY, played Fringe Festivals in Indianapolis and Phoenix this spring. Nuvo, Indianapolis’s Alternative Voice said; “The best of Fringe and indeed one of the best comedians of 2008… His show is a delicious combination of intellectual and guttural — and is one of the most dependable tickets at the IndyFringe… He has since become something of a cult-icon, moving to prime-time Fringe status with sell-out shows.â€
