On Sunday, November 7, more than 3,000 participants, including celebrities, individuals and teams will join the 5k walk through Century City with the goal of raising $800,000 in support of the Alzheimer’s Association. Onsite registration at Century Park, 2000 Avenue of the Stars, Los Angeles, 90067 begins at 7 a.m.; the Walk begins at 9 a.m.
In addition to walkers, exhibitors, vendors and sponsors are being sought for this family-friendly event, which includes food, entertainment, prizes, a health-and-fitness expo and fun activities for all ages.
“As the Baby Boom generation begins to face Alzheimer’s, increased community participation is crucial,†said Bettina Kurowski, President and CEO of the Alzheimer’s Association, California Southland Chapter. “More than half a million people are living with Alzheimer’s in California. That number is expected to grow dramatically as our population ages. There are many ways people can help, including advocacy, volunteerism, and participation in fund-raising events like Memory Walk.â€
Memory Walk is the nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support and research. Since 1989, Memory Walk has raised more than $300 million for the cause.
