Proceeds from the evening will support Rescue Humanity, a non-profit organization dedicated to seeking justice for the disenfranchised and vulnerable – orphans, abused women, and the rural poor. Rescue Humanity aims to accomplish their mission through the ongoing funding of their four projects: Rainbow House, Sharan House, New Found Jewelry, and Project Nepal. Rainbow House orphanage provides Nepalese children with a loving home, an education, healthcare, and, most importantly, protects them from exploitative forces such as child trafficking and prostitution. Thousands of Nepalese girls – some as young as eight years old – are sold into prostitution by their parents, relatives, or community. Those who survive the harrowing ordeal are often infected with HIV/AIDS and/or suffer from recurring health problems due to complicated pregnancies or abortions, malnutrition, tuberculosis, and depression. Most of these women return only to be ostracized by their community and left to die without any support. Sharan House provides these victims, along with their children, safe shelter, medication, an education, and job training. New Found Jewelry was started to give these women a financial and creative opportunity. All proceeds from the sales of the beautiful, handmade jewelry benefit Sharan House. Lastly, Project Nepal brings a medical team of experienced doctors and nurses to provide medical care to the rural underprivileged in remote Himalayan areas, where there is no regular access to healthcare.
