Santa Monica Auctions: Fall Live Public Fine Art Auction

Auction on Sunday, October 18th, starting at 1pm at Bergamot Station Arts
Center. For the last 25 years, Santa Monica Auctions has been continuously
offering important works for both the beginning art buyer as well as the most
sophisticated connoisseur. Santa Monica Auctions feature the work of both mid-career and established artists of all mediums including modern and
contemporary painting, photography, sculpture, drawing, multiples and prints.

Over the past few years we have received record prices for works by Ruscha,
Pettibon, and Warhol as well as having incredible deals for works of this high
quality and local known California artist.

Besides our normal ModIrving Penn; Optician’s Window, New York, 1939/1983; Gelatin silver print; Framed: 14 x 11 inchesern and Contemporary material this sale will feature
original Advertising, Urban and Illustration Art as well. Highlighted in the sale
will be Raymond Pettibon’s original drawing “Play Ball†from 1987, which was
used for the well-known print series of the same image. Another work that will be featured is “Portrait of Craig Johnson†, an important unique canvas by Andy Warhol, provenance of Douglas S. Cramer. The mixed-media on canvas work by Chaz, the patriarch of the Los Angeles grafitti art movement, is a seminal piece that was originally exhibited in 1987 at 01 Gallery and has been in the same collection since the show.
