Santa Monica City Council Member Bobby Shriver will be the keynote speaker at the Americans for the Arts Annual Convention on Thursday, June 16, 2011. Shriver will present 21st Century models of business alliances and arts partnerships that have proven successful, using his experiences with (RED), ONE.ORG, and Special Olympic Productions as examples
The meeting of over 1200 arts professionals from throughout the USA will take place at the San Diego Hilton Bayfront Hotel and continue through Saturday, June 18, 2011. An ambitious agenda and exceptional lineup of panelists and exhibits will be enhanced by seven custom tours to distinctive arts districts in the city.
Featured speakers will include, Ben Cameron, Program Director for the Arts, Doris Duke Charitable Foundation; Ken Davenport, Broadway Producer, Davenport Theatrical Enterprises; Ayanna Hudson, Director of Arts Education, Los Angeles County Arts Commission; Senator Stan Rosenberg, Massachusetts State Senate.
There will also be exhibits introducing services and reference expertise for arts organizations. Together, these programs will showcase the arts as an engine of economic growth and pillar of educational excellence.
