• Santa Monica Shines is an exciting event to launch the first-ever holiday season at the new Santa Monica Place. This free event introduces the magnificent, contemporary tree – as much an art installation as a holiday tree – with lights that don’t just dance, they actually groove to a custom soundtrack from KCRW DJs.
• Headlining the event is The Living Sisters, an acclaimed new vocal group featuring three of LA’s best singer-songwriters (Inara George of The Bird & The Bee, Becky Stark of Lavender Diamond and singer Eleni Mandell) plus the evening’s emcee, KCRW Music Director Jason Bentley.
• This event also showcases local talent, including two groups from Santa Monica High School (the Chamber Singers and Madrigal Ensemble), GRAMMY Camp(r) 2010 alumnus Brenna Miles, student vocalists from the Crossroads School for Arts and Sciences and much more.
• Visual, musical and experiential, Santa Monica Shines debuts the sculptural performance tree and transforms the center in a wash of color, light and hip, seasonal music.
• After Santa Monica Shines, which is presented by Yogi Bear, the movie, Santa Monica Place guests can enjoy holiday tree performances every evening from Nov. 20-Dec. 31. Nightly performances take place every 30 minutes after dark.
