The world’s largest volunteer reef monitoring and conservation organization, Reef Check Foundation, will host its major fundraiser, SAVE THE REEFS, SAVE THE OCEANS, on Friday, September 16, 2011, at the Jonathan Beach Club in Santa Monica.
Reef Check Foundation, a California registered non-profit dedicated to saving reefs worldwide, has earned international recognition for its unique reef monitoring protocols, which invite participation not only of scientists, but also of students, recreational divers, and local reef-dependant people in preserving reef ecosystems.
This year, SAVE THE REEFS, SAVE THE OCEANS will honor artist Wyland and underwater filmmakers Howard and Michele Hall for their reef conservation efforts. Previous event honorees include; Jean-Michel Cousteau, Daryl Hannah and Dr. Sylvia Earle.
Reef Check supporters include Cameron Diaz and Leonardo DiCaprio, honorary Board Chair.
