Ladies – our time has come! Perhaps it is because Hillary Clinton is a serious contender for President; more women are the stars of major motion pictures and television series; or the fact that our intrinsic value is finally being recognized.

In the world of charities, women have always been the driving force, and this week, we would like to recognize are few fab females.

At the Seventh Annual Pink Pump Affair at the Montage in Beverly Hills, seven women who are making a difference were honored, including Attorney General Kamala Harris, journalists/news anchors Pat Harvey, Dorothy Lucey, and Ana Garcia; Actress/Humanitarian Nicole Ari Parker; and Bonnie Rubin, Executive VP, First Century Bank.

The event benefited Special Needs Network, founded by another legendary lady, Areva Martin, Esq.

Ten years ago when her own son was diagnosed with autism, she established this non-profit  organization, that  provides resources and services to a vast number of families affected by autism and developmental disabilities, in underserved communities.

After a Spring fashion show by St. John (whose fashions never go out of style), we were treated to a rousing performance by Kina Gosper (our new Tina Turner). Her hit song “Girl From the Gutter” delivers the powerful message of self-love and empowerment. Go Girl!

At another event, two drastically different damsels were honored: Chandra Wilson, award-winning “Grey’s Anatomy” star, and Brandi Glanville, from the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” were named “Women of Achievement” at the Mother’s Day Luncheon, benefitting The Associates for Breast and Prostate Cancer.

This sold-out gala was held at the Four Seasons Hotel, where another philanthropic lady Beverly Cohen resides. After all she and hubby R.J. own the property!

Beverly and Sheri Rosenblum chaired the event, which brought out such notables as Gloria Allred, Anika Noni Rose, and John Wayne’s granddaughter Anita Swift who is President of the John Wayne Cancer Institute Auxiliary. With strong supporters like these women, cancer will someday be defeated!
