On one of the first stops on their U.S. tour, “The Italian Duo” – renowned flautist Giulia Matteucci plus composer/guitarist Saverio Rapezzi – welcome the summer time with an exciting musical evening focused on lively and charming music by major composers of the 20th century all to benefit Santa Monica’s very own Playhouse.
Since 2001, Matteucci and Rapezzi – both already recognized concert performers – have been performing together, taking part in exciting Italian and European concert seasons (Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences, Koninklijk Conservatory of Den Haag, Royal Theatre of Torino, Casa Paganini of Genova, Intercontemporanea Festival of Alessandria, and many others).
In 2006 they won the 1st prize at the Chamber Music Competition “Città di Grosseto.†Santa Monica Playhouse, currently c
elebrating its 50th year of continuous service to the community, has made cultural exchange a top priority, hosting companies from around the world as part of its belief in the power of theatre to make a difference in people’s lives.
