Composure-conductor David Newman will lead the American Youth Symphony in Academy Award winner Michael Giacchino’s score for “Star Trek: Into Darkness” played live to picture, an AYS first and L.A. premiere, on Sunday, September 27 starting at 4 p.m. at UCLA’s Royce Hall.
Starfleet uniforms and other costumes are encouraged. The “best-dressed” of the night will be brought on stage to receive a special Star Trek prize..
Giacchino and host Jon Burlingame, reporter for “The Film Music Society” and USC film-music history professor, will hold a pre-concert Q and A.
