Santa Monica Playhouse students are donating all proceeds from the performances of their original musical production “Suite 16” to the relief effort spearheaded by Playhouse sister company Model Language Studio of Japan for victims of the recent tsunami and earthquake disaster.
Suite 16, a dramedy crafted and performed by the 8- to 10-year-old members of the Playhouse Education Conservatory Spring Play Project, is set in the presidential suite of an elegant hotel in Anytown, USA, and follows a group of young people, celebrating the sweet sixteen party of an older sibling, as they grapple with the tantalizing temptations
and ultimate ramifications of manipulation and mind games.
Produced by the Santa Monica Playhouse Hands Across the Sea Japan-America Cultural Exchange Project, Suite 16 features Vera Rose Abrams, Asher Bank, Isabelle D’Amico, Naomi Lovera, Alex Poe, Chelsea Seifer, Sarah Silvers, Aloha Suto and Daisy Wright. “We know that everyone wants to help, and as actors, we feel it is our responsibility to use our work to raise awareness wherever and whenever we can,†says 10-year-old actress Isabelle “Izzy†D’Amico.
Continues fellow actor, 10-year-old Asher Bank, “Often we don’t realize how fortunate we are until something devastating happens to others.
