On Wednesday, April 27th, 2011, reporter Laura Ling will host TEEN LINE’s 24th Annual Food for Thought Luncheon at the Beverly Hills Hotel. The topic for this year’s luncheon is “Middle School Meanies†, and will explore the issues around bullying and adolescent self esteem.
The 2011 TEEN LINE Humanitarian Award will be presented to Katherine Schwarzenegger and Edwin Aguilar. Schwarzenegger’s recently released book, “Rock What You’ve Got†encourages young teens to develop a healthy body image and to love their inner and outer self despite others’ comments. Aguilar, Assistant Director of Animation for The Simpsons who overcame his own difficult teen years, will be honored for giving back to the community by reaching out to young people who are troubled.
In addition, teen volunteers Jordan Bloch and Julia Winokur will receive the Teen Hero Award; Dorsa Davari and Aliza Levin the Outstanding Listener Award; and Sophie Lavet, Brooke Pechman and Emily Schenkel the Distinguished Service Award.
Beverly Hills Hotel, 9641 Sunset Blvd, Beverly Hills, CA 90210 on Wednesday, April 27, 2011; the boutique will begin at 10:00am followed by the luncheon and program which will commence at 11am. Tickets are $150 each.
The TEEN LINE mission is to provide a safety net for teenagers through its peer-to-peer hotline, website, outreach programs and training workshops. In 2010 nearly 35,000 teens and adults were reached through TEEN LINE.
