Leading romantic Spanish tenor and Domingo-Operalia Winner Israel Lozano, will appear in concert at a benefit for the Los Angeles Music and Art School (LAMusArt) located in East Los Angeles.
The concert will also feature the Los Angeles Philanthropic Committee for the Arts Youth Orchestra and the LAMusArt Youth Choir as well as select student soloists of the school.
The 2010 Stars for the Arts Benefit Concert, presented by The Walt Disney Company and Pacific Theatres-ArcLight Cinemas, will be held at the Eli and Edythe Broad Stage, a new and exciting Westside venue on Friday, September 24, 2010 at 8 p.m.
Stars for the Arts award will be presented to two individuals pivotal to the creation and success of the Los Angeles Music and Art School; David and Margaret Barry. Their remarkable dedication to future of our school and its students has proven to be invaluable to the East Los Angeles community at large. On this special night, we recognize their many contributions, and thank them for their guidance and support.

About Israel Lozano
Tenor Israel Lozano, from Madrid, Spain, started his Studies with soprano Emelina Lopez and tenor Alfredo Kraus. Studying at the Superior School of Music and Queen’s Superior School of Music in Spain, Mr. Lozano made his operatic debut at the age of 22 as Il Conte di Almaviva in Il Barbiere di Siviglia by Rossini, and at the National Symphony Auditorium of Madrid. He holds a G.P.D in Opera from Peabody Conservatory of John Hopkins University with tenor Dr. Stanley Cornett. In 2002/04 he completed the Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program and prepared, covered and sang roles at the Washington National Opera under the artistic direction of Plácido Domingo.
Performances include Paco in the Spanish opera La Vida Breve with Opera Carolina, Sarasota Opera, Teatro Real of Madrid, Washington National Opera, Teatro Liceu of Barcelona and a Concert Gala with the Baritone Joan Pons.
Upcoming engagements include “Alfredo” in “La Traviata” with Gustavo Dudamel and the Young Orchestra Simon Bolivar, and the role of “Mario” in a new opera production by the composer Daniel Catan of “Il Postino” at the “Theater an der Wien” in Vienna singing again with Placido Domingo.
