WOMEN STAND UP FOR BREASTS
All female comedy to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure
According to the American Cancer Society, the chance of developing invasive
breast cancer at some time in a womans life is about 1 in 8 (12). In 2009, an
estimated 192,370 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed among
women in the United States. In response to this disease, Saturday 09/05/09 at
10:30pm, Rakefet Abergel presents The F Word- An All Female Stand Up Comedy
benefit show for Susan G. Komen for the Cure. The breast cancer research and
awareness organization will receive proceeds from the show as well as the silent
auction and raffle. The all female lineup will be performing the funny at M.i.s
Westside Comedy Theater at 1323-A 3rd Street Promenade, Santa Monica, CA 90401.
Headlining the show is Bridget McManus, host of Logo Tvs “Brunch with
Bridget”. McManus is well-known in the gay and lesbian community. SAMOHI Alum
Rakefet Abergel, the shows producer and host, says, “The reason this show is
important is not only to raise money for breast cancer, but also to give women a
chance to stand up for a good cause while simultaneously stepping out of the
typically male dominated world of comedy.” The hot item on the silent auction
slate is a home design consult with Nicole Facciuto, host of HGTVs eco-design
show “Red, Hot and Green”. Each admission comes with a free raffle ticket.
