Former Clinton White House adviser, New York magazine staff writer and award winning author, Dr. Atul Gawande will be the featured speaker at the 50th Anniversary Gala of the UCLA School of Public Health. The gala will celebrate 50 years of pioneering research, training and service to improve the health of millions.
Dr. Gawande’s studies on surgical procedures and health costs as well as his advocacy for reform have had a profound impact on medicine and policy. His book Complications: A Surgeon’s Notes on an Imperfect Science was a finalist for the National Book Award in 2002. His latest book, The Checklist Manifesto is a New York Times bestseller.
