The days of lazing around with cups of coffee and the Sunday paper are but a mere wisp of a memory. Mother’s Day, (MD) was like all Sundays now that I have children; noisy and hectic.
Like many Westside moms, I don’t have help on Sundays and thus, actually have to tend to my children for the whole day. I know, the horror, the horror – no, not for the children, but for moi – at the thought of actually interacting with the little devils without hired professionals. While my dear husband contributes and as a celebration of MD let me sleep in there is still work to be done – the newspaper will just have to wait.
So after another hectic Sunday, it was a lovely surprise when the aforementioned dear husband presented me with some unconditional love – no, not that kind, get your minds out of the gutter, please – but the kind you can share with your kids; Philosophy’s divine Collection Unconditional Love.
The Phoenix, Arizona based company has opened its first brick and mortar store outside of their home base on Montana Avenue at 1329 Montana Avenue. In a sea of “For Lease†signs the new store is a breath of fresh air as I stroll down Montana Avenue.
Designed by M.J. Munsell of the noted architecture firm Callison designed the store with an island in the middle with two sinks which allows customers to not only sample but actually experience the products. The skin care consultants take their time with clients and actually demonstrate how the products work as opposed to just spewing sales pitches and handing out samples.
The recently launched fragrance, Unconditional Love, represents one of the benefits of a brick and mortar store; the opportunity to get a whiff of a great new scent. Infused with fruity notes and warm vanilla, it is a light, fresh and wears well when sweating; one of the many, less-attractive realities of chasing your own children.
In celebration of MD, my children and I indulged in a group shower scented with Unconditional Love products – and we had a blast. Yes, it was still noisy but the aroma of the perfumed shampoo, bath & shower gel which filled the bathroom added a sense of calm to the whole experience. Gentle enough for my aging skin, my daughter’s eczema and my baby’s porcelain hide, all of us enjoyed lathering up. We followed our shower with the perfumed, firming body emulsion (you can guess which one of us was more enthused about the ‘firming’ part.). My daughter’s dry skin drank up the formula as did mine. Neither of us was left sticky, just smooth. My husband was a bit perplexed when he smelled our son whose delicate skin was also massaged with the lotion with only positive results but he too had to admit that the family smelled and felt great.
