MAYOR VILLARAIGOSA AND BIG SUNDAY PRESENT – MAY 1 DAY OF SERVICE

Mark your calendars for the next Day of Service, scheduled for Saturday, May 1st. This year, the West LA Day of Service will be partnering with Big Sunday to bring even more communities and projects together.

We are looking for great community projects, so if your school, club, NC, or other group has an amazing project, let us know! We are particularly interested in projects that are low-cost, but meaningful. Creativity is a plus!

You can submit project proposals directly to the Big Sunday website:
http://www.bigsunday.org/request/
(Mention that you’d like this to be part of the West LA Mayor’s Day of Service)

…Stay tuned for the next Day of Service Planning Committee meeting!

TRUE ANGEL NOMINATIONS NOW BEING ACCEPTED

A message from Mayor Villaraigosa:

To all Angelenos–

There are True Angels in this city. They are the people who devote untold hours each day to building their communities and contributing to the common good.

Whether painting a mural, planting a tree, or serving food to seniors, True Angels realize we are all in this together, and that social change only comes with active, committed engagement. These True Angels come together from all different backgrounds and from all across Los Angeles to lay the foundations of stronger communities for future generations.

Help me recognize Los Angeles’s True Angels by sharing with me the story of a truly exceptional volunteer. That volunteer can be you or someone whose service you admire. Three Angels will be chosen every month and featured on my True Angels website.

To nominate an Angel go to: http://mayor.lacity.org/OurCity/Volunteer/TrueAngels/index.htm

Thank you,

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa
