It is the perfect partnership: High quality cosmetic procedures at a local medical center known for the highest quality work. Santa Monica-based KO’AN Center for Integrated Aesthetic Medicine is committed to performing top-notch procedures in order to preserve the health and beauty of their patients.

Co-founded by two certified plastic surgeons, Dr. Barbara Hayden, M.D. and Dr. Chia Chi Kao, M.D., the KO’AN Center is helmed by two qualified medical experts who accrue data and utilize cutting-edge technology in order to minimize and/or reverse the signs of aging while also restoring and rejuvenating the skin.

“The reason why the KO’AN Center was established was because patients would be left to continue their regimen after their procedures, but weren’t able to properly take care of their skin post-surgery,” explained Lisa Watts, Executive Director of the KO’AN Center. “Patients weren’t finding the best care by going to dermatologists of medical spas: they were looking for more medically-based procedures that would make a change.”

The KO’AN Center provides professional medical services and products, including facial styling.

“Women are not happy with their aging; they don’t necessarily want to look younger, but more healthy, vibrant and feminine,” Watts said. “Perceived youth has much to do with a sense of energy and vibrancy. Facial styling means that we want to restore your look with such energy during an optimal time of life.”

From Botox to needling, the KO’AN Center approaches skin restoration and rejuvenation in a handful of ways.

The KO’AN Center’s Regenlite Laser is “the next wave of technology” that promotes long-lasting healthy skin with the procedure specifically “designed to repair and reverse signs of aging without damaging the skin.”

Regenlite is able to stimulate collagen production and repair mechanisms, therefore reducing wrinkles, acne scarring, and effects of rosacea. This procedure is performed so meticulously that it is the only laser approved for the delicate areas around the eye.

The KO’AN Center determines the respective needs of each patient by utilizing the Visia Complexion Skin Analysis, a state-of-the-art imaging system.

According to Watts, the Visia “tells you what your outer skin looks like,” but also informs on a deeper level by showing “how your underlying skin is being nourished and oxygenated” through the capillaries.

“Signs of aging aren’t only happening in your outer skin, but underneath,” Watts said. “If the capillaries are healthy, then everything else falls into place.”

The Visia generates quantitative components of the skin, including pigmentation, pores, texture, and wrinkles. This elaborate skin analysis allows the KO’AN Center to develop a customized treatment for each patient and subsequently create a basis for ongoing skin care.

“By looking at the current state of your skin, the Visia analysis also shows us what’s yet to come,” Watts said. “We are then able to plan for the future and document treatment progress.”

From the delicate Regenlite laser to the intricate Visia analysis, the core goal of the KO’AN Center is to help create results that last.

“We love procedures that offer instant gratification, but not at the cost of harming the infrastructure of the skin,” Watts said. “We want you to look great today and even better tomorrow. The best skin of your life maybe well ahead of you.”

The KO’AN Center offers a variety of other facial services, including facial enhancements (such as brow shaping facial waxing), laser procedures (such as wrinkle correction and pigmented lesions removal), and nine types of injectables including Botox, Dysport, xeomin, Restylane-L, JUVEDERM, Voluma, Belotero, Radiesse, and Sculptra.

KO’AN is a recognized leader in aesthetic, plastic, and/or reconstructive surgeries, specializing in face lifts, liposuction, and breast augmentation.

The Center encourages thoughtful, transparent conversation between doctor and patient regarding procedures so that both parties are aware of the choices that are being made, whether it is a full-on surgery or a form of facial styling.

The KO’AN Center is located at Saint John’s Medical Plaza on 1301 20th St., Suite 150A, in Santa Monica.
