The City of West Hollywood celebrated the grand opening of the New West Hollywood Library on October 1. After two years of construction and many years of planning and a whirlwind opening week of special VIP celebrations, receptions and a dedication ceremony with author Jackie Collins appearing as a guest speaker, finally the long-awaited library is open to the public.
The new 32,000 square foot, LEED-certified West Hollywood Library is designed to be the centerpiece of the West Hollywood community. It is designed to showcase the City’s rich intellectual, literary and cultural diversity and provide a landmark facility for the community’s passionate commitment to lifelong learning.
The New West Hollywood Library, which will continue to be operated by the County of Los Angeles Library, includes computer and technology areas, a career development center, a children’s theatre, and special sections for children, teens, and a LGBT section.
The New West Hollywood Library will include shelving for 150,000 books, movies and music as well as wireless Internet, reading lounges, group study rooms and much more.
The libary is located at 625 N. San Vicente Boulevard in West Hollywood, next door to West Hollywood Park.
