If you’re at a loss as to how to treat your mom during Mother’s Day, take a look at this list and find something that fits your schedule.

Splurge on a three-course brunch at the ritzy Wolfgang Puck at Hotel Bel-Air, where you’ll find classics like omelets and pancakes, along with a dessert buffet. If Sunday brunch isn’t in the cards, “Mommy and Me” afternoon tea takes place every Saturday and Sunday from 3 to 5pm. It costs $145 per adult and $65 per child. Reserve a table by calling this number: 310-909-1644. The entire event lasts from 11am-3pm.

Spend the May 8th night sitting on Southern California’s sandy shore waiting for the “grunion run.” Grunions are small sardine-size fish of the silversides family, which are among the few species of fish that actually come ashore to lay their eggs on sandy beaches. They are found from Southern California south to Baja California and arrive at night after the high tide around the new moon and full moon. Cabrillo Beach is one of the better places to observe the fish. Watch the silvery fish come up on the beach to spawn! Learn about the interesting mating rituals and growth of this curious fish.

The Aquarium opens at 8 p.m. and an auditorium program begins at 9 p.m., followed by guided observation at the beach. This is located at Beach Cities, Cabrillo Aquarium, 3720 Stephen M. White Drive, San Pedro, CaA. It is an all ages event that costs between $1-$5. Warm clothing and a flashlight are recommended.

Pick 1 of 3 Mom’s Day Sails to celebrate her on her special day. Perhaps the thing your looking for on Mother’s Day is a day out on the ocean.  On Saturday you can have scrumptious morning brunch while sailing the ocean blue aboard the traditional wooden schooner Spirit of Dana Point.  Late that night you could opt for a cool Bioluminescence evening cruise. Or on either weekend day, you can take a whale watching adventure. This event is open for people ages 4 and up, where costs vary. This event is located in Orange County, Ocean Institute, 24200 Dana Point Harbor Dr., Dana Point, Ca
